About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead estimating efforts for gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates for small or medium projects or support a lead estimator on larger projects
- Organize, plan, and schedule estimate preparation and facilitate necessary meetings
- Prepare comprehensive and reliable estimates incorporating relevant information
- Collaborate with the project team and estimating leadership to determine trade partner strategy and prepare invitations to bid/budget
- Obtain relevant documents, including BIM, to complete quantity surveys and understand project scope
- Ensure complete quantity surveys of materials/resources required for projects
- Utilize cost history to inform scope, pricing, and productivities
- Work with the Project Sponsor and Estimating Leaders to ensure estimates meet margin goals and prepare margin plans for approval
- Prepare for and participate in Bid Day or presentations to owners
- Build and maintain relationships with Operations Personnel, design partners, trade partners, and owners
- Develop industry knowledge through resources, trade journals, conferences, and projects
- Mortenson is a builder, developer, and EPC company serving sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and other markets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Ability to perform quantity survey for a MEPT system (Mechanical/Plumbing or Electrical/Technology)
- Gain knowledge and understanding of one scope (M/P or E/T)
- Contact and scope trade partners for area of focus
- Contact equipment vendors for pricing and delivery schedule
- Prepare budget breakdown form for MEPT trade partner proposals on small projects
- Build and maintain relationships with trade partners for focused area
- Create list of potential trade partners for assigned projects
- Awareness of potential code impacts due to new code adoption
- Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status
