About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Identify and develop short- and long-term sourcing strategies to achieve Supply Chain business objectives and contribute to company-wide strategy
Define and direct sourcing initiatives aligned with strategic plans and supply chain strategies
Negotiate and maintain contracts and agreements with key suppliers and service providers
Establish supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity while leveraging Mortenson’s combined buying power
Collaborate across business functions to formulate, implement, and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies
Develop relationships with stakeholders across service groups, operations, finance, and IT
Monitor and analyze industry trends and lead implementation of supply chain best practices
Provide centralized leadership for designated construction project-specific procurement and identify needs for independent site-level procurement
Lead contract negotiations with assigned customers when selling materials and ensure contract compliance
Develop pricing strategies and guide the category team on project proposals
Develop the vision and focus areas for purchasing agents and buyers
Foster teamwork, collaboration, and integration within Supply Chain and across Mortenson
Coach team members, provide feedback, set priorities, and manage performance
Champion superior customer service
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
Proven people leader with experience in hiring, coaching, and mentoring a team of professionals to anticipate needs and achieve short and long-term goals
Ability to lead initiatives and influence decisions in a matrix organization
Superior attention to detail and accuracy
Shown positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
Minimum 14 years of experience
Current driver’s license
