About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct client service and program delivery support
  • Provide one-on-one needs assessments, referrals, information and orientation, group orientation, guided pathway support, community connections, client outreach, service bridging, resource development, and delivery assistance
  • Identify clients’ needs and support independent access to community resources
  • Provide basic employment-related information, support, and referrals
  • Provide information about the labour market, job search tools, and available programs
  • Assist clients with credential accreditation
  • Stay informed about community resources, trends, needs, changes, service gaps, and MOSAIC programs and services
  • Enter client and service/activity information accurately and promptly into OCMS
  • Meet assigned weekly unique-client and monthly program-specific client targets
  • Develop individual Work Plans as needed to meet caseload, service objectives, outputs, and outcomes
  • Assist the manager with settlement-service and service-provider partnership development
  • Mobilize community resources and facilitate community participation in accessing services
  • Develop outreach strategies to deliver services to newcomers and represent MOSAIC in the community
  • Publicize MOSAIC programs and services to ethno-cultural minority communities and service providers
  • Represent MOSAIC or ethno-cultural minority community interests at forums and consultations as requested
  • Prepare organizational and funder reports on activities and services
  • Perform other duties assigned by the manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Humanities, Counselling, or a related field; or high school completion and a certificate, diploma, or coursework in related fields; or a combination of training and experience related to the program, project, or service
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required
  • At least 2 years of experience working in community development, settlement, and/or employment programs
  • Experience implementing policies and procedures, working with immigrant populations and/or diverse cultural backgrounds, or comparable education/program specialties
  • Completion of post-secondary education in office administration, social sciences, humanities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of office procedures, program/project development, community development, service documentation, diversity, standard office equipment, case management, and function-specific knowledge
  • Strong English and Arabic communication skills
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Presentation, workshop, and facilitation skills both in-person and online
  • MS Office suite, publishing software, and database proficiency
  • Customer service skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural counselling skills
  • Organized, able to set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Tactful, discreet, diplomatic, patient, and flexible
  • Ability to speak Kurdish is an asset
  • OCMS knowledge and experience is an asset
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada through citizenship or permanent resident status, or a work permit valid for the duration of the position
  • Able to commute to the Boundary Office location at 5575 Boundary Road, Vancouver, BC
