About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support technical studies of the permanent way, analyzing the geometric and structural conditions and wear of its components
- Evaluate data from geometric, visual, and instrumented inspections, identifying degradation trends and critical points
- Support the review, standardization, and continuous improvement of permanent way maintenance procedures
- Prepare and update preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance plans
- Develop technical studies for the planning of welding and replacement of long rails (LWR)
- Support the planning of turnouts (switches and crossings) replacement, renewal, or intervention
- Prepare technical analyses, opinions, and reports to support decision-making
- Liaise with operations, field maintenance, planning, and engineering teams
- Participate in field inspections, monitoring services and validating technical solutions
- Assess the technical and operational impacts of interventions on the track
- Support the technical control of rails, sleepers, fastenings, and turnouts
- Contribute to improving permanent way availability, reliability, failure, and operational restriction indicators
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- At least 2 years of experience in permanent way maintenance
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Technical knowledge of rails, turnouts, and track geometry
- Experience working in a railway operations environment
- Analytical, organized, proactive, and problem-solving mindset
- Experience analyzing permanent way inspection data (preferred)
- Experience planning the replacement and renewal of rails and turnouts (preferred)
- Knowledge of long welded rail (LWR), rail wear, and rail defects (preferred)
- Experience preparing or reviewing maintenance procedures and plans (preferred)
- Knowledge of standards and best practices applicable to permanent way maintenance (preferred)
- Participation in continuous improvement projects or reviews of track maintenance processes (preferred)
