About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review logs to identify unusual behavior in networks and devices
- Apply cybersecurity knowledge to network, endpoint, forensic, email, and cloud investigations
- Program and write scripts to support cybersecurity analysis and problem solving
- Create and maintain documentation
- Collaborate with IT and business partners to help solve business problems
- Work in the Chicago/Schaumburg office 2 days a week
Requirements
What you’ll need- Analytical mindset and a can-do approach to problem-solving
- Hands-on experience with a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) such as Elastic Stack or Splunk
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, iOS, and virtual environments
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP protocols)
- Experience with tools including TCPDump, Wireshark, and Nmap
- Forensic knowledge using FTK, Autopsy, and Volatility
- Endpoint Detection knowledge using Wazuh, Velociraptor, OSSEC, OSQuery, or OpenEDR
- Experience with network-based intrusion detection (IDS/IPS), including SNORT or Suricata
- Understanding of email protection, investigations, email headers, and IMAP, SMTP, and POP3 protocols
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Ability to program and write scripts in Python, Java, Go, or another modern language
- Proactive approach and enthusiasm for problem identification and solving
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong appetite for continuous learning
- Strong verbal and written skills and willingness to apply them to documentation
- Training or certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Security+ are nice to have
- Experience or training with AI or LLM is nice to have
- High School Diploma is required
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a graduation date of May 2028 or later
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required
