About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide high-level technical support and optimization for specialized communications systems
Troubleshoot software-driven electronics and optimize RF and Broadband architectures
Work with legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure technologies
Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems
Develop solutions for technical challenges during system implementation, upgrades, or support activities
Perform preventative maintenance routines, trend analysis, and detailed documentation
Submit comprehensive weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments
Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN networks, cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
Install server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure; troubleshoot system and application issues
Support standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching
Support RF systems, transmitters, receivers, antenna networks, and communications test equipment
Support Public Safety customers across the T5 South territory, primarily on Illinois projects
Travel 75% or more to customer locations

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years of experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Military, Motorola equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment
Strong knowledge and proficiency in wired communications systems (LAN/WAN)
Expertise in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
Ability to install server hardware/Operating Systems and software infrastructure, and troubleshoot system/application issues
Knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques
High computer literacy, with proficiency in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Knowledge of R.F. systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks
Proficiency in using communications test equipment
Strong self-management and self-motivation skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to quickly solve customer problems in high-stress situations
Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; employer work permit sponsorship is not available
Successfully pass a stringent fingerprint background check under the DOJ CJIS Security Policy
Preferred experience with optimization and support of complex communication systems
Preferred experience with multi-site RF communication systems and/or computer/networking skills
Preferred experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and/or networking equipment
Experience with consoles, channel banks and T1 circuits, computer IP networks and configuration, and RF infrastructure technologies is desirable
