About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Field Service Organization serving government and public safety communications customers
  • Deploy, optimize, repair, and maintain mission-critical digital mobile communication infrastructure and related equipment
  • Provide technical support and advanced troubleshooting for software-driven electronics and communication system infrastructure
  • Provision communication system infrastructure and optimize RF and Broadband architecture, including analog, P25 digital, and data infrastructure
  • Maintain, optimize, test, document, and support complex communication systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance, trend analysis, and documentation
  • Develop solutions for difficult technical problems during maintenance, upgrades, and support issues
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Customer Service, Field Engineers, and service partners
  • Support LAN, WAN, wired/wireless communication systems, logging recording systems, RF interfaces, networking equipment, server hardware/OS, and software infrastructure
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
  • Provide technical training and guidance on integrating new tools and solutions
  • Resolve customer and system/application issues, including during stressful situations
  • Provide 24/7/365 on-call support for Minnesota's ARMER Public Safety System

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Candidates must reside in Minnesota
  • 5+ years of experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, Military experience or similar technical experience
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; employer work permit sponsorship is not available
  • Must pass a stringent fingerprint background check under the CJIS Security Policy
  • Experience with P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment
  • Very strong knowledge of wired/wireless communication systems, including LAN and WAN
  • Knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet-switching techniques
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of configuration and testing of channel banks, routers, hubs, and switches
  • Ability to develop and present technical training
  • Experience with Communications Systems Analyzers, Power Sensors and Watt Meters, TIMS sets, CPS, RSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers (FDRs), T1 test sets, and similar equipment
  • Experience configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products
  • FCC license and ETA or CompTIA certifications are a plus, not required
  • Ability to work 24/7/365 on-call support and at customer site a minimum of two days per week
  • Ability to travel 25-50%
