About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide on-site and remote upgrades and troubleshooting of Motorola ASTRO systems
Provide technical support for specialized systems and product applications
Troubleshoot software-driven electronics
Provision communication system infrastructure and optimize RF and Broadband architecture
Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems
Submit weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
Install, configure, and maintain computer network systems, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
Maintain server hardware/OS and software infrastructure
Troubleshoot system- and application-related issues
Work closely with Motorola Solutions customers, subcontractors, sales, engineering, project management, and customer support teams
Travel internationally and domestically up to 75%–80% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years experience in IT, networking, technician, field service, system technician/specialist, radio frequency, or land mobile radio
Basic knowledge of networking, Cyber Security principles, Active Directory Administration, and LMR Communications
Advanced knowledge of ASTRO core applications including UNC, PM, UEM, ESXi, IMW, KMF, HBSS, and PKI
Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs
Ability to administer and troubleshoot in an IT-type or technical environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong self-management, people, organization, and attention-to-detail skills
Knowledge of wired communications systems, LAN, WAN, cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot server hardware/OS and software infrastructure
Comprehensive understanding of IP networks
Ability to obtain acceptable adjudication of DOD secret (T-3) clearance within 18 months of initial employment
Completion of SF86 questionnaire and fingerprinting for national security positions
Willingness to obtain CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification within the first 12 months of employment
Ability to obtain/hold a U.S. Passport and International Drivers Permit, and legally drive and rent a vehicle as needed
Travel internationally and domestically up to 75%–80% of the time
Permanent residence within 60 miles or less of a mid- to large-class international airport
Legal authorization to work indefinitely in the U.S.; employer work permit sponsorship unavailable
Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance
Desired certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSE, or CISSP
Experience with HBSS and CAC/PIV authentication-based systems
Experience developing and executing Motorola ASTRO upgrades preferred
Experience with Motorola ASTRO technology, Zone Core, ASTRO Networking, Microsoft Active Directory, McAfee security suite, MCC7500 dispatch, NICE Logging, IT, LMR, E911, Dispatch, and Radio Frequency
