Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and scale the Platform & Video Infrastructure organization
Lead, mentor, and scale a distributed engineering organization of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers
Establish career pathways, succession planning, and performance management standards
Foster a high-accountability remote-first culture focused on autonomy, operational rigor, and continuous feedback
Own departmental headcount planning, operational budgets, and resource allocation
Drive platform scalability, availability, and cost efficiency across the GCP footprint
Establish standards for keyless authentication, zero-trust networking, and immutable infrastructure via Terraform
Define 0–2 year technical roadmaps and delivery benchmarks
Oversee asynchronous media processing and AI-driven false-positive filtering pipelines
Drive alignment with vendor and gateway connector teams to standardize API handshakes, streaming protocols, and ingestion performance
Partner with Product, Security, and Executive Leadership on architectural standards, integration policies, and platform capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
10+ years of progressive software, infrastructure, and platform engineering experience
3+ years in direct engineering management leading distributed teams
2+ years of DevOps experience
Proven track record of managing multi-team organizations, owning operational budgets, and driving technical strategy for high-scale platform systems
Hands-on background in Java (Spring Boot microservices) and Python (AI/agentic workflows, evidence verification processing)
Deep expertise in event-driven microservices (Kafka)
In-depth knowledge of GCP platform services including GKE, Shared VPC, VPC Service Controls, IAM/Workload Identity Federation, Cloud Storage, and Anthos Service Mesh
Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform
Experience overseeing asynchronous video processing pipelines, transcoding, and live/recorded streaming
Experience with cryptographic integrity standards and SHA-256 chain-of-custody protocols
Understanding of OIDC, Workload Identity, mTLS, OAuth 2.0, and enterprise API integration patterns
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract
Must be in the Chicago office 3 times a week
