About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Analyze, develop, design, and maintain software for organizational products and systems
Perform software and hardware system integration to maintain throughput and program consistency
Develop, validate, and test structures and user documentation
Drive technical API strategy for internal cross-product integrations and external partnership programs
Design, build, and deploy strategic integrations with third-party applications and services
Enable ingestion and distribution of data across the product portfolio
Collaborate with product teams to identify internal cross-product use cases and define API architecture and development
Contribute to architecture and best practices for developer programs supporting external API partners
Build and connect technologies that help protect people, property, and places in the public safety sector

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a significant focus on API development, distributed systems, and enterprise-level integration
Proven expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs or similar protocols
Experience with API lifecycle management, OAuth, API Keys, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and versioning
Strong hands-on development skills in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C#
Strong experience with SQL databases such as Postgres or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CosmosDB
Excellent understanding of integration patterns, message queues, event-driven architectures, and data transformation techniques
Familiarity with XSLT for complex data mapping
Practical experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions
Experience building and deploying applications in a public cloud environment, with Azure preferred
Significant experience with Azure API Manager or similar API gateway/management platforms is a major advantage
Experience with microservices architecture and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
Experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft (Anypoint Platform) or similar platforms
