About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead accounting reviews of material, unusual and non-standard customer arrangements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition
Own and maintain the revenue recognition framework across SaaS, subscription, term licence, perpetual licence, maintenance, implementation, professional services, usage-based and partner arrangements
Review and challenge revenue accounting conclusions and identify and remediate process, system or control gaps with the Finance Transformation team
Approve revenue accounting adjustments arising from contract reviews, accounting assessments or control activities
Partner with Sales and Legal teams on in-flight contracts
Own the group accounting policy manual and ensure policies remain current, practical and consistently applied across regions
Research complex accounting matters and provide guidance to business stakeholders
Serve as accounting subject matter expert for significant judgements affecting statutory and group reporting
Prepare and review audit-ready technical accounting papers
Monitor accounting standards and regulatory developments, assess impact and lead adoption
Partner with Audit, Controls & Reporting to design and maintain key controls and support statutory and group audits
Partner with Legal, Commercial and Corporate Development on significant customer arrangements, strategic transactions and acquisitions
Develop the wider finance organisation through training, guidance and coaching
Drive simplification, standardisation and automation while preserving appropriate review and control

Requirements

What you’ll need

CPA professional qualification
8+ years of relevant accounting experience, including substantial post-qualification experience
Demonstrable experience applying ASC 606 and/or IFRS 15 to software, SaaS or other recurring-revenue contracts, including complex and non-standard arrangements
Proven ability to research accounting guidance and produce high-quality technical papers that withstand senior management and external audit review
Ability to identify, understand and resolve technical and procedural challenges
Experience leading significant workstreams and reviewing or managing the work of others
Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to explain technical conclusions clearly
Strong Excel and financial systems capability, with experience extracting, reconciling and analysing large or complex datasets
Desirable: experience in a multinational software or SaaS group
Desirable: demonstrable experience using AI to create more efficient and robust review processes
Desirable: knowledge of both IFRS and US GAAP, and exposure to local GAAP or statutory reporting
Desirable: experience of M&A accounting, purchase price allocation and acquired contract balances
