About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the portfolio and develop strategy with senior management to achieve property segment profit and revenue goals
Recruit, develop, and retain qualified underwriting and support staff
Manage and control underwriting processes to achieve quality and compliance standards
Monitor, recommend, and implement business-process improvements for effective workflows and customer service
Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the E&S Property business plan
Underwrite and maintain an own book of business
Assign underwriting authority to direct reports and manage the process with National Underwriting
Manage staff assignments to achieve service goals and balanced workloads
Manage the Account Management process with Risk Engineering, Claims, and Marketing
Manage and develop staff in accordance with corporate plans and policies, including Performance Management
Track, monitor, and report loss activity, marketing activity, GWP achievement, and budget/operational issues
Implement and manage quality-control processes, self-audits, corrective actions, and related training
Develop and manage regional producer relationships with underwriting and marketing staff
Handle customer-related issues between outside parties and internal units to drive optimal customer service

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree
7+ years of commercial P&C coverage experience
3+ years management experience
Strong underwriting management skills
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
