About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle commercial auto physical damage claims within assigned authority and MSMM Claims Handling Guidelines
  • Review new assignments, verify policies, vehicle schedules, coverages, and endorsements
  • Make documented liability determinations using reports, statements, photographs, dashcam, telematics, and scene information
  • Triage claims to appropriate handling channels and re-route them as damage develops
  • Evaluate physical damage and total losses; review appraisals, supplements, invoices, labor rates, and repair operations
  • Manage rental, loss-of-use, towing, and storage exposures
  • Identify total losses and evaluate diminished value claims
  • Identify subrogation opportunities, preserve evidence, notify responsible parties and carriers, and pursue recovery
  • Recognize fraud indicators, report to ISO ClaimSearch and NICB, and refer claims to SIU
  • Set and adjust reserves; escalate files exceeding authority or involving coverage, litigation, or severity concerns
  • Maintain complete electronic claim files and diaries
  • Comply with unfair claims settlement practices laws and regulations
  • Issue accurate electronic and digital payments to insureds, claimants, repair facilities, and lienholders
  • Communicate with insureds, claimants, brokers, and fleet managers via phone, email, text, and digital portals
  • Follow dedicated-account handling instructions and client service commitments
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, workflow and vendor issue resolution, data quality, and reporting on claims metrics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least three years of claims experience, including three or more years handling auto physical damage claims
  • Commercial auto or fleet experience is strongly preferred
  • Active adjuster license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire, plus additional state licenses as required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • AIC, CPCU, I-CAR, ASE collision training, or similar industry credentials are preferred
  • Maintain required adjuster licenses and complete continuing education requirements
  • Ability to apply negligence and comparative fault rules of the governing jurisdiction
  • Knowledge of commercial auto physical damage claims, coverage, liability, repair, total loss, salvage, subrogation, fraud identification, and applicable claims regulations
