About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise the physical construction of projects according to contract documents, building codes, and compliance requirements
- Work with the Project Manager to document and maintain reports for delays, work-arounds, shutdowns, and tie-ins
- Resolve personal disputes on the jobsite and lead and inspire teams
- Maintain relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Perform quality assurance/control for MSS scope and schedule
- Attend all inspections and project meetings
- Manage and enforce the MSS tool-tracking program
- Forecast and manage labor and equipment levels
- Organize labor to complete jobs on time and within budget
- Read complex blueprints and equipment installation manuals
- Solve job-related problems or bring solutions to the Project Team and/or Field Operations Manager
- Serve as liaison with client representatives
- Track project progress and report weekly to the Field Operations Manager and Project Managers
- Manage project safety and assist the safety manager in maintaining a safe work environment
- Coordinate daily job operations with project managers
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and labor while controlling work accuracy and quality
- Identify and report problems or deficiencies to the Project Manager
- Document on-site activities that may impede progress or compliance
- Interview and select field staff for the jobsite
- Conduct safety talks and maintain check-in sheets
- Perform employee performance reviews
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced Mechanical Superintendent professional
- Proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations on tight urban sites
- Competent in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
- Knowledge of all phases of construction
- Experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control of project scope
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience as a Lead Superintendent
- Thorough understanding of and ability to maintain a current, complete set of project documents, blueprints, revisions, specifications, and related items
- Ability to multitask and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in accessing, reading, and completing the installation of systems from a BIM-coordinated project
- Ability to work with a variety of tools
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug test
- Must have OSHA 30 certification
- Bachelor's degree or completion of a technical training program (or equivalent) preferred
- Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing
- Constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping
- Required close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, plus ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to talk and hear
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting to 25 lbs.
- Material handling involving lifting from floor level to overhead; occasional lifting up to 115 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and constant lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work in exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, high noise intensity, atmospheric conditions, electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet/humid conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and high-exposure places
