About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create detailed cost estimates covering materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other project-related activities
Participate in estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review, and purchasing processes
Collaborate with the Director of Preconstruction and company leadership on bid/no-bid decisions
Assign lead estimators based on skills and schedule alignment
Delegate tasks and supervise and mentor other estimators
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for HVAC equipment and hydronic and air-side systems
Develop budgets from schematic design through construction documents
Develop subcontractor bid packages and scopes of work; evaluate bids and issue contracts
Prepare, finalize, and review proposals and submittals
Provide technical support to leadership and project managers
Develop and evaluate solutions with managers, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers
Coordinate equipment, controls, services, and pricing for projects
Lead the team, resolve issues, and solve problems
Review construction plans and project requirements
Prepare and review contract terms and conditions
Assist with project fulfillment schedules and resolve scope deviations
Develop facility-related solutions aligned with customer needs and industry best practices
Visit client and project sites to survey conditions and make observations
Assist with interviewing and selecting new estimators
Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
Collaborate with team members to obtain appropriate expertise
Assist the Director in managing preconstruction efforts
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in the HVAC industry
Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints, construction plans, and specifications
Ability to understand HVAC systems and controls and basic HVAC principles and concepts, and perform calculations
Strong communication skills
Strong work ethic
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable
Random drug testing required
Must successfully pass a background check
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
