About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee end-to-end development of seasonal materials and components, including leather, fabrics, hardware, and animations
Lead seasonal development launches, supplier communication, and task delegation
Manage critical paths and dependent tasks to ensure timely delivery of leather goods and accessories
Collaborate with design on colour palettes, material names, and material codes
Source materials and provide research to the design team
Manage material development, approvals, and production sign-off
Lead raw-material and pre-production meetings
Manage seasonal raw-material budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost savings
Track seasonal leather development, system inputs, supplier technical sheets, archives, and references
Coordinate leather production sign-off with sourcing and quality teams and manage sample distribution
Ensure sourced products align with sustainability goals and communicate with suppliers
Collaborate with quality, sampling, and product-development teams to resolve concerns and ensure timely ordering
Hire, train, and manage two direct reports
Oversee daily administrative tasks and streamline workflows
Promote Mulberry’s values, inclusive culture, sustainability strategy, and brand reputation

Requirements

What you’ll need

In-depth understanding of leather types, tanning processes, and construction techniques for bags, small leather goods, and accessories
Knowledge of fabrics, embellishment, and decorative techniques applied to accessories
Proficiency in onboarding, evaluating, and maintaining supplier relationships
Ability to negotiate supplier terms, pricing, and minimum order quantities (MOQs)
Ability to source materials aligned with design aesthetics, performance standards, and sustainability goals
Knowledge of seasonal material trends
Skill in managing raw-material budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities
Experience collaborating with design, production, quality, and sustainability teams
Strong leadership skills for team management and seasonal development timelines
Familiarity with PLM, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of quality control processes, testing methods, and regulatory requirements
Understanding of sustainable sourcing and ethical fashion-industry practices
Ability to demonstrate honesty, dynamism, and a community-oriented spirit
