About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to the vision, strategic planning, and leadership of MVB's technology organization
- Develop and support a multi-year technology modernization roadmap, including core banking and legacy-system retirement
- Support infrastructure that provides Fintech partners with stability, security, and regulatory controls
- Design systems for resiliency, maintainability, reuse, reduced complexity, and future functionality
- Make architecture, technical evaluation, and build/buy/partner decisions as a hands-on technical leader
- Serve as the technical authority for cross-cutting features, new products, platform changes, and major refactors
- Direct technology strategy for MVB's Banking-as-a-Service platform, including payments, card issuance, money movement, and embedded finance
- Support secure onboarding and scaling of Fintech partners
- Partner with Information Security, AI and Data Governance, Risk, and Compliance to maintain security, controls, and regulatory readiness
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, audit and examination readiness, and resolution of third-party findings
- Source and evaluate technology vendors and solutions; negotiate long-term contracts
- Manage technology vendor and partner portfolios across core banking, Fintech infrastructure, and enterprise systems
- Deliver technology vendor projects on time and within budget
- Lead enterprise applications and IT Operations, including core banking, Digital, Lending, network, server, telephony, and help desk environments
- Build and develop a technology support organization for traditional banking and Fintech operations
- Communicate technology strategy, risk, and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- Manage the technology team's budget and strategic priorities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 15+ years of applicable technology leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide technology modernization efforts, including cloud migration and legacy system transformation
- Hands-on technical background engaging directly in architecture, security, and platform decisions
- Experience in banking, financial services, or a highly regulated industry
- Working knowledge of the regulatory and compliance environment applicable to banking and payments
- Strong leadership skills, with ability to plan, direct, report on, and develop technology staff and teams
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
- Direct experience with Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), embedded finance, payments, or card issuance platforms
- Comprehensive knowledge of modern information systems technology, including cloud infrastructure, API architecture, cybersecurity practices, and data platforms
- Candidates must reside in West Virginia, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, or South Dakota
- Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
- Preferred: Experience supporting Fintech partnerships or a Fintech-facing technology platform in a regulated environment
- Preferred: Familiarity with AI/ML-driven operational efficiency tools and their application within banking operations
