About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute the assigned Red Hat federal territory plan
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, Red Hat, partners, OEMs, and internal contacts
  • Conduct prospecting, account research, contact mapping, whitespace analysis, and campaign follow-up
  • Identify and support net-new, renewal, expansion, services, and training opportunities
  • Work with Red Hat sellers, solution architects, and technical resources to understand customer needs and position solutions
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce opportunity, pipeline, forecast, contact, activity, and documentation records
  • Coordinate quotes, pricing approvals, proposals, opportunity registration, contracts, legal, sales operations, technical resources, and customer follow-up
  • Develop knowledge of federal procurement cycles, RFQs, RFPs, RFIs, contract vehicles, reseller requirements, and procurement portals
  • Follow the Emergent Sales Methodology and identify risks, dependencies, deadlines, and required actions
  • Partner with marketing on lead-generation programs, events, presentations, and campaign follow-up
  • Complete Red Hat product and sales training and develop knowledge of RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform, subscriptions, consulting, and training offerings
  • Support post-award transition, customer follow-up, renewal planning, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities
  • Meet or exceed assigned activity, pipeline, revenue, gross-profit, renewal, and sales targets
  • Collaborate with internal account teams, sales leadership, marketing, and cross-functional teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 1–2 years of sales, business development, customer service, or related experience
  • Experience using and maintaining a CRM system; Salesforce experience preferred
  • Ability to work the business hours required to support the assigned territory
  • Demonstrated success against individual activity, pipeline, revenue, or other measurable performance goals
  • Ability to engage customers, vendors, and technical resources in a consultative manner and coordinate technology solutions
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication
  • Strong organization, follow-through, responsiveness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple deadlines, and escalate risks or blockers
  • Ability to research federal accounts, identify relevant contacts and programs, and translate findings into targeted sales activity
  • Ability to collaborate with sales, technical, marketing, contracts, legal, operations, and OEM teams
  • Foundational business and financial acumen, including pricing, margin, forecasting, and pipeline concepts
  • Presentation, discovery, and active-listening skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and ability to learn additional sales and procurement systems
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening
  • Security clearance: None required
