About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and evolve BNZ’s quality engineering strategy, standards and practices, including test automation, quality gates, test data, observability and CI/CD quality controls
- Partner with delivery and platform teams to embed modern, shift-left quality practices into ways of working, tooling and delivery governance
- Coach engineers and quality practitioners through communities of practice and learning pathways
- Use quality signals and delivery data to measure quality maturity, identify improvement opportunities and connect engineering quality to delivery risk, assurance and release confidence
- Guide responsible use of AI-enabled engineering tools for test design, automation, defect analysis, documentation, pattern identification and continuous improvement
- Translate emerging quality engineering and AI-assisted practices into pragmatic guidance, standards and coaching
- Integrate quality expectations into Technology standards, tooling and engineering practices
- Shape quality engineering capability expectations, career pathways, coaching and progression alignment across teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong technical credibility across modern quality engineering and test practices
- Experience defining or evolving quality standards in a complex or regulated environment
- Deep understanding of SDLC, shift-left testing and automated quality controls
- Ability to influence and coach engineers and leaders without relying on formal authority
- Comfort using data and evidence to drive change and prioritisation
- Pragmatic mindset balancing speed, quality, risk and assurance
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering or quality tools to improve software delivery outcomes
- Sound judgement around responsible AI use, risk management, data protection and governance
