About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop robust, scalable, maintainable Spring Boot services and REST/SOAP APIs
- Align solutions with target-state architecture and treat testability as a design constraint
- Define test approaches covering unit, integration, contract, API, regression, performance, and resilience testing
- Build and maintain automated testing frameworks and suites using JUnit 5/Mockito and API automation
- Conduct exploratory testing to identify defects and quality risks
- Analyse customer needs, business objectives, requirements, constraints, dependencies, and risks
- Reproduce complex defects, review logs and code, identify root causes, and implement robust fixes
- Participate in production support and the on-call roster
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders
- Mentor intermediate and graduate developers
- Review code and tests and improve squad standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid command of modern Java and Spring Boot
- Experience building and running enterprise RESTful services and event-driven architectures
- Experience with Kafka and IBM MQ; SOAP familiarity
- API testing and automation
- Performance, load, and resilience testing
- Manual and exploratory testing
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL/SQL, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/OpenShift, Jenkins/Spinnaker
- CI/CD and infrastructure tooling including Jenkins, Spinnaker, Ansible, and Terraform
- Experience wiring quality gates into pipelines
- Observability and monitoring with Splunk and Dynatrace
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Usually 7+ years in production backend and integration work
