About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Counsel members and gather required documentation for consumer-loan hardship assistance requests
  • Evaluate loan status and documentation and prepare policy-based recommendations for the Loan Review Committee
  • Present loan workout options to the Loan Review Committee for approval or denial
  • Participate as a member of the Loan Review Committee
  • Maintain the assigned consumer-loan Loss Mitigation portfolio
  • Assist members with short- and long-term loan modification requests
  • Contact members and third-party service providers to obtain information and coordinate required services
  • Complete ability-to-repay analyses, scenario outcome reviews, and risk analyses
  • Analyze documents and complete workout sheets presenting borrowers’ financial positions and payment-ability impacts
  • Recommend modifications, repayment plans, and alternative workout solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex member issues, recommend actions to management, and follow through to resolution
  • Set up approved workout options in the core system and implement approved loss-mitigation solutions
  • Sign into the phone queue daily to answer member questions
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Maintain compliance with applicable lending, Credit Union, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three to five years relevant experience and/or training
  • Two years’ experience in consumer or mortgage lending
  • Knowledge of the FDCPA, FCRA, SCRA, MLA, and other applicable state/federal laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of 1st Mortgage, Home Equity, or Consumer underwriting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Adherence to lending industry regulations pertaining to consumer loan modification
  • Adherence to Credit Union policies and procedures and Bank Secrecy Act regulations
