About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review clinical test results from molecular genetic testing laboratories for accuracy and translate results into LIMS
  • Review and analyze raw data files in appropriate software and resolve routine issues
  • Verify the correct specimen and tests for patients by reviewing test requisition forms
  • Work within laboratory information systems to review and correct patient demographics
  • Understand and follow current applicable standard operating procedures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, corrective action, and GLP practices
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures while handling PHI in paper and electronic forms
  • Complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, general policies and procedures compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 0-2 years of experience as an ASCP-certified Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory environment with knowledge in molecular diagnostics
  • A bachelor's or higher degree in medical technology or laboratory science OR a bachelor's or higher degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences plus at least six months of acceptable supervised experience and/or relevant training
  • Current MT/MDxT/CLS/MB certification from ASCP, AMT or AAB is required
  • Copy of the degree required at time of hire; degree must be from the US or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of computer skills, quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance
  • Knowledge of various DNA sequencing methods preferred
  • Ability to produce accurate work under pressure, handle changing work volumes and tight deadlines, organize time, and prioritize tasks
  • Adherence to department time and attendance guidelines
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed
