About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own meaningful initiatives end-to-end, from problem framing through design, implementation, release, and operation
Design and build cloud-native AWS services using stateless, event-driven architectures, including Lambda, SQS/SNS/EventBridge, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and RDS
Use AI agents and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate development, reduce manual toil, and solve complex problems
Translate commerce and fulfillment business needs into technical specifications, APIs, and operations-friendly services
Write stories, break down epics, identify dependencies, estimate complexity, and drive delivery
Contribute through code, design reviews, and support for teammates
Partner with commerce product managers, business stakeholders, and Case Management Platform peers
Participate in on-call rotations and production support, owning fixes for software issues
Propose improved patterns, tools, and ways of working
Deliver quality software in a regulated environment with automation-first testing and a shift-left mindset
Work with Protected Health Information in paper and electronic form

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS in Computer Science, a comparable program, or equivalent experience; MS preferred
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful time building complex data or process-management applications
Strong fluency in Java or another modern object-oriented language, such as Kotlin, C#, or Python with OO design
Willingness to work across languages when the job calls for it
Hands-on experience with AWS, including serverless and stateless patterns, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, event-driven messaging, and relational and/or non-relational data stores
Demonstrated current use and orchestration of AI tools and agents for real work
Experience designing and operating distributed systems, including observability, resilience, security, and performance in production
Strong SQL and data modeling skills
Experience partnering with product managers and non-engineering stakeholders to shape requirements and trade-offs
Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including OO, SOLID, design patterns, API design, and clean architecture
Fluency in cloud infrastructure and selecting appropriate infrastructure patterns
Full-stack comfort with a backend/platform center of gravity
Excellent written and verbal communication
Employee must complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire
Employee must pass a post-offer criminal background check
