About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain microservices for Natera’s provider-facing web portal
  • Participate in design and technical implementation decisions
  • Guide product managers, UI/UX designers, and other stakeholders on technical and design decisions
  • Gather requirements and walk through designs with stakeholders
  • Support software from ideation through release, operation, and maintenance
  • Design, build, and maintain highly available systems supporting business applications, users, providers, and patients
  • Perform code reviews and mentor the development team on best practices
  • Improve processes and procedures and evangelize best practices
  • Support QA activities with QA engineering teams
  • Contribute to end-to-end compliance initiatives
  • Handle protected health information in paper and electronic form
  • Complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, general policies and procedures compliance, and security training within the first 30 days
  • Maintain current status on Natera training requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree in computer science, comparable program, or equivalent
  • 6+ years of overall software development experience
  • Experience with secure, scalable web applications using NodeJS, TypeScript, React, and other web technologies
  • Front-end development experience
  • Experience with software development lifecycle processes, including build, software configuration, change control, release and deployment activities
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Test-Driven Development and/or Domain-Driven Development
  • Experience with service-oriented and microservice architecture
  • Experience building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and expanding software within the AWS ecosystem, including EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, and S3
  • Experience with GraphQL and REST API design and event-driven architecture using distributed event stores such as Kafka
  • Experience with micro-service enterprise architecture, cross-platform integration, and scalable applications in heterogeneous environments
  • Strong relational database skills, including database design and optimization
  • Linux fundamentals
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Relational database and SQL programming; MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred
  • JavaScript programming
  • SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and DynamoDB
  • AWS services, Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker, GraphQL, REST APIs, event-driven microservice architecture, NextJS, React, Sass, Material, HTML, CSS, NodeJS, and GitLab CI/CD
  • Java programming is nice to have
  • Teamwork, analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
