About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Understand, develop, and continuously improve data management principles and common practices for the America Makes program
  • Facilitate integration, structuring, and storage of project data within the CORE data repository
  • Identify and address data management capability gaps
  • Deliver methods and approaches that enhance data quality and ensure data reuse
  • Manage a strategy for continuous process improvement for data management and persistence
  • Apply knowledge of data pedigree, data structures, essential variables, provenance, and data models for advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Manage the quality and reuse of America Makes data assets
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and panel discussions
  • Document technical details, aggregate information, analyze data, draw conclusions, identify trends, and summarize information
  • Support or lead drafting of manuscripts, reports, and presentations
  • Present programmatic and technical information
  • Develop, share, and follow instructions and procedures
  • Lead group discussions with project teams and America Makes members
  • Develop plans and schedules establishing time-based programmatic or professional development goals
  • Serve as an individual contributor or subject-matter expert consultant

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in developing and managing manufacturing data pipelines, data management practices, and database architectures
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to lead discussions when necessary
  • Willingness to ask questions when matters are unfamiliar, unknown, or unclear
  • Willingness to seek feedback and address challenges or unclear matters
  • Strong communication skills concerning project plans, work breakdown structures, risk, and technical details
  • Great note-taking ability or ability to retain knowledge quickly
  • Self-starter and lifelong learner required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to support stakeholder needs
  • Passion for serving the nation and improving U.S. global manufacturing competitiveness
  • Prior experience with government-funded research consortia is a plus
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality assurance, control protocols, and management systems is a plus
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, energy, healthcare, or automotive industry is a plus
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; employment eligibility verified through E-Verify
