About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and errands
- Observe, monitor, and report changes in client condition
- Take vital signs when ordered
- Complete documentation accurately and on time
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment
- Serve as the primary after-hours contact for caregivers needing scheduling assistance or reporting call-offs
- Answer and respond promptly to on-call phone calls, texts, and urgent staffing needs
- Coordinate replacement coverage for open visits by contacting available staff and using available staffing resources
- Partner with the Manager on Duty for support, guidance, and escalation of scheduling concerns or urgent client needs
- Help ensure uninterrupted client services through effective communication and problem-solving
- Remain accessible throughout the on-call period, including evenings and overnight hours
- Provide direct client coverage when necessary and appropriate if alternate staffing cannot be secured
- Pick up the on-call phone and support materials before coverage
- Contact scheduled caregivers to confirm weekend assignments and readiness for visits
- Return all on-call equipment and materials to the office at the end of the rotation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified or non-certified HHAs welcome
- Compassionate, dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in urgent situations
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client homes
- Ability to remain responsive throughout assigned on-call hours
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
