About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and govern NESO’s network security architectural framework, including firewalls, Zscaler, and emerging technologies
  • Translate business strategy into technical solutions, architectural standards, and roadmaps
  • Design scalable, secure network solutions for operational and strategic goals
  • Collaborate with cloud teams and partners across hybrid and cloud environments
  • Lead adoption of automation and DevOps principles in security operations
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams while providing technical direction
  • Advise internal and external stakeholders on network security architecture and best practices
  • Own end-to-end network security architecture across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Design, document, and govern network segmentation, Zero Trust models, next-generation firewall frameworks, and secure connectivity solutions
  • Develop and maintain a 12–24 month network security technology roadmap
  • Define, publish, and enforce enterprise-wide network security standards
  • Conduct architectural reviews for business, regulatory, and industry alignment
  • Act as the highest escalation point for complex network security incidents
  • Analyze packet captures and logs to address root causes and strengthen security posture
  • Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends
  • Design and review cloud security architectures
  • Provide technical mentorship and promote knowledge sharing and adherence to security standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive demonstrable experience in network security, with significant hands-on expertise in a dedicated Architecture or Lead role
  • Expert-level knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP and OSPF
  • Expert-level knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/2, TLS 1.3, IPsec, and SD-WAN
  • Advanced knowledge of on-premise and cloud-based firewalls, including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Zscaler
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Native Networking in AWS/Azure, including VPCs, PrivateLink, Security Groups, and WAF
  • Network Principal-level knowledge of TOGAF, SABSA, or CISSP-ISSAP
  • Vendor professional/expert certification knowledge, including CCNP Security or CCIE, PCNSE, or NSE 7/8
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Automation using Python, Ansible, or similar
  • Ability to create architectural diagrams, HLD documents, LLD documents, and executive presentations
  • Strong understanding of ITIL and Agile methodologies within a security context
  • Experience with ISO 27001, NIST, or SOC 2 governance frameworks
  • Expert understanding of security monitoring, operational reporting, alerting, and security observability platforms
  • Experience defining security metrics, KPIs, KRIs, and executive reporting
  • Ability to govern enterprise-wide reporting frameworks
  • Right to work in the UK by the start of employment
  • Usually resident in the UK for the last five years to apply for the required National Security Vetting clearance
  • Willingness or ability to participate in out-of-hours on-call
