About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain partnerships with the Engineering and Customer Solutions Directorate to achieve business outcomes through digital products, solutions, and services
  • Create, deliver, and oversee the performance of digital products, solutions, and services within the DD&T functional plan
  • Develop and deliver a strategic Digital, Data, and Technology roadmap aligned with business goals
  • Attend leadership meetings to ensure close collaboration with the directorate and teams
  • Own Agile DevSecOps delivery of products and programmes of work, with accountability for operational stability
  • Manage end-to-end design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of digital products and services
  • Coordinate strategic and delivery business analysts, architects, senior platform managers, other senior delivery managers, innovation business partners, and data stewards
  • Plan and manage budgets, timelines, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and quality standards
  • Own and manage the functional digital delivery plan for the directorate
  • Champion Agile DevSecOps principles and modern engineering practices
  • Identify new practices and automation opportunities to improve pace, quality, and reliability
  • Make commercially, technically, and operationally sound decisions aligned with DD&T strategy
  • Collaborate with technical leaders to provide seamless service and promote innovation and excellence
  • Apply platform best practices, guard rails, and golden paths
  • Manage relationships with technology partners and service providers
  • Provide first-line assurance, including risk and mitigation management
  • Lead, manage, and develop a diverse team of engineering experts
  • Make commercial decisions and manage IT financial considerations
  • Monitor technology trends and identify improvement and innovation opportunities
  • Conduct system audits, manage change control, and establish governance and platform best practices
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Management, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent management-based digital, data, or technology-specific industry experience
  • Vast experience in technical leadership roles, managing teams effectively, and working with senior stakeholders
  • NSV Security clearance is required, along with the ability to maintain this clearance
  • Usually resident in the UK for the last five years to apply for the required clearance
  • Right to work in the UK by the start of employment
  • Demonstrable experience shifting to modern technology practices and adapting to change
  • Experience working with outsourced partners to deliver services
  • Broad technology exposure at enterprise scale and strong management skills
  • Experience delivering, supporting, and maintaining technology
  • Experience leading change and transition in complex environments
  • Experience working effectively with third parties and outsourced services
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of current technologies, trends, and innovations
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, MuleSoft, Azure, or similar technologies
  • Skills designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable solutions
  • Track record managing issues during priority incidents
  • Ability to create a performance-driven team culture
  • Commercial astuteness when dealing with third parties
