About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and maintain partnerships with the People Directorate to achieve business outcomes through digital products, solutions, and services
- Own the creation, delivery, and performance of digital products, solutions, and services within the DD&T functional plan
- Implement, support, maintain, and improve People systems
- Develop and deliver a strategic Digital, Data, and Technology roadmap aligned with business goals
- Attend directorate leadership meetings to ensure close collaboration
- Own Agile DevSecOps delivery of products and programmes of work, with accountability for operational stability
- Manage the end-to-end design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of digital products and services
- Coordinate strategic and delivery business analysts, architects, platform managers, delivery managers, innovation business partners, and data stewards
- Plan and manage budgets, timelines, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and quality standards
- Own and manage the functional digital delivery plan
- Champion Agile DevSecOps principles and modern engineering practices
- Explore new practices and automation opportunities
- Make commercially, technically, and operationally sound decisions
- Work with technical leaders to provide seamless service and promote collaboration, innovation, and excellence
- Build relationships with technology partners and service providers
- Provide first-line assurance and manage risks and mitigation plans
- Lead, manage, and develop a diverse team of engineering experts
- Manage IT financial decisions and commercial matters
- Conduct system audits, manage change control, and establish governance and best practices
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring
- Evaluate the impact, value, and user satisfaction of digital solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Management, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent management-based digital, data, or technology-specific industry experience
- Vast experience in technical leadership roles, managing teams effectively, and working with senior stakeholders
- NSV Security clearance is required, along with the ability to maintain this clearance
- Usually resident in the UK for the last five years to apply for the required clearance
- Right to work in the UK by the start of employment
- Demonstrable experience in shifting to modern technology practices and adapting to change
- Experience working with outsourced partners to deliver services
- Success in delivering, sustaining, and maintaining Workday systems and associated PEOPLE/People applications including internal communications
- Demonstrable experience in PEOPLE processes, data, internal communications, and systems
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Strong technical skills and understanding of technologies, data and AI, trends, and innovations
- Knowledge of modern software engineering principles and practices including AI
- Knowledge of Salesforce, MuleSoft, Azure, or similar technologies
- Skills in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable solutions
- Ability to translate user and stakeholder needs into effective digital solutions
- Track record of managing issues during priority incidents
- Skills in leading and managing a team of engineers
- Skills in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving problems
- Commercial astuteness when dealing with third parties
- Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills
