About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage an active caseload of students, providing brief solutions-focused counseling
  • Respond to new student referrals and facilitate ongoing services or referrals across university resources
  • Provide asynchronous support through the institution’s online mental health support program
  • Provide student wellness-related training to students and employees
  • Provide email, phone, and text-message support to students, faculty, and staff
  • Assist students with understanding and making informed decisions regarding University policies and procedures related to personal wellness and emergency situations
  • Create and maintain resource lists and databases for employees and students
  • Create and maintain proactive outreach strategies related to basic-needs insecurities
  • Respond to and manage communications through the department email queue
  • Provide individual support through short-term, solutions-focused counseling and University/community referrals
  • Maintain accurate records of referral options organized by geography and student need
  • Train, consult with, and support faculty and staff across National University
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in social work, psychology, public health, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience providing case management services and working with adult student populations required
  • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Military experience preferred
