About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Generate new convention and meeting business and sell public and private events across the National Western Center campus
- Manage the sales process from prospecting through contracting, with continued responsibility for client retention and rebooking
- Establish and maintain relationships with meeting and event planners across multiple industries
- Execute sales strategies to drive revenue, increase lead generation, convert leads into sales, and use KPIs to measure success
- Meet or exceed revenue goals and contribute to department revenue objectives
- Cultivate new sales opportunities and maintain an active sales pipeline
- Establish relationships with destination marketing organizations and participate in industry associations and networking organizations
- Facilitate site visits and walk-throughs for prospective clients
- Identify creative solutions to client needs, address objections, and communicate the value of the National Western Center
- Develop, negotiate, and revise proposals and contract terms within established guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of cost models, pricing and rate structures, budget metrics, and sales reporting
- Maintain accurate client, sales activity, booking, financial, forecasted revenue, contracted revenue, historical event, and booking calendar records in the CRM system
- Provide high-level customer service and respond to inquiries within one business day
- Apply fair and equitable sales practices across a broad and diverse range of clients and event types
- Communicate event details, client expectations, and logistics clearly to Event Operations teams
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing teams to increase venue awareness and develop sales and promotional tools
- Foster positive, collaborative working relationships across departments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
- 5 years of professional experience in public and/or private event sales; experience with trade shows, corporate events, expos, public sector events a plus
- Experience with negotiating event contracts
- Familiarity with booking and events management software
- Excellent business judgment and ability to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with large and/or multi-stakeholder processes or projects from start to finish
- Passion for maximizing community benefit, sustainability, and innovation through events
- Ability to design and implement processes, sometimes from scratch
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and extremely organized
- Self-motivated
- Collaboration and compromise skills
- Comfort with event contracts
- Great time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaboratively with a high-energy team
