About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical expertise supporting networks and systems for day-to-day operations
- Install, configure, test, maintain, and support LAN and WAN infrastructure
- Design and implement improvements to information systems infrastructure
- Configure, secure, and monitor Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Lumen managed Versa SD-WAN, Cisco Meraki Wireless, cloud-hosted proxy servers, Microsoft Azure networking, and OpenGear console servers
- Manage the entire network at Natural Grocers
- Establish network specifications, interface configurations, and routing protocols
- Apply network access policies, maintain network segmentation, and monitor security controls, logs, and alerts
- Analyze and resolve hardware, software, security, and network performance alerts
- Monitor weekend alerts via email and escalate issues as needed
- Conduct network segmentation audits with other crew members
- Activate new circuits and coordinate remote boots on the ground
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot networking problems
- Evaluate and remediate availability, utilization, QoS, throughput, and latency issues
- Coordinate vendor repairs, troubleshooting, and updates
- Cross-train IT crew members on networking
- Support tier 1 and tier 2 requests in production, testing, and development environments
- Create and document network policies, procedures, standards, and infrastructure
- Coordinate with Company staff and departments to resolve network operations issues
- Remediate PCI and vulnerability assessments and evaluate products/services for PCI and SOX compliance
- Work on projects with internal and external resources, completing them on time and within budget
- Support SOX, PCI compliance, and internal audit tasks
- Follow change control practices
- Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to staff messages during off hours and vacations
- Perform occasional after-hours work to maintain systems, install upgrades, and monitor network performance
- Provide outstanding customer service and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience combined is required
- Possession of a network administration certificate (i.e. Comptia Net+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)) is desired
- 3 years network Administrator for a mid-size enterprise (500+ employees, multiple domains, 20+ locations, 4+ IT team members)
- 3 years of experience administering Cisco centric network environment (switch configurations)
- Working knowledge of how firewalls and access lists work
- Working knowledge of availability monitoring software to monitor network hardware devices
- Working knowledge of network device logging
- Strong communications skills, consistently hitting deadlines, staying within budgets, and achieving all project deliverables
- Strong network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including application and network-level troubleshooting
- Dedicated to providing outstanding customer service to employees, stores, and customers
- Scripting experience for task automation desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with hardware maintenance and lifecycle
- ITIL Foundation certification a plus
- Experience with frameworks and compliance regulations including CIS Controls, NIST, PII/PCI, and SOX
- Positive and supportive attitude when communicating with others
- Self-driven / self-motivated to learn new skills
- Some travel may be required
