About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure loan applications are complete and comply with Federal and NCUA laws, regulations, and Navy Federal policies and procedures
- Review member loan applications for completeness and identify required information or supporting documentation
- Contact members for clarification and obtain additional details; verify employment, references, credit, and payoff information
- Conduct member re-interviews to obtain information requested by the Lending Committee
- Counsel members on loan options, loan status, and Navy Federal policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality
- Verify employment data with employers, HR departments, supervisors, and other third parties
- Respond to inquiries regarding credit decisions, additional information, lending policies, practices, and collateral requirements
- Determine collateral, interest rates, repayment terms, and purpose codes
- Enter loan application requests into automated loan processing systems and update member demographic information
- Submit loan cancellations and enter changes to loan status in online loan systems
- Monitor loan-system queues, fax databases, and other databases for pending items
- Detect potential fraud indicators
- Forward completed documentation for electronic member-record processing
- Provide administrative support to the section and Lending Committee
- Review, analyze, and return drafts via the Draft Processing System
- Sort and distribute incoming mail and faxes
- Research, assemble, and obtain consumer loan information
- Typically receive guidance from a Consumer Loan Processor II
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Familiarity with consumer lending principles, policies and financial practices
- Familiarity with information contained in a credit bureau report, Fair Credit Reporting Act and credit lending policies
- Basic skill examining and interpreting information quickly and accurately
- Basic skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulations
- Basic skill interacting with staff, management, vendors and members diplomatically and tactfully
- Basic verbal and written communication skills
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Monday–Friday availability, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
