About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as an experienced engineer working with application teams to shape firewall rules
Act as a liaison between the firewall team and Information Security
Gather system network requirements
Engineer and implement Check Point Next Generation Firewall policies
Engineer and implement Palo Alto Next Generation Firewall policies
Migrate legacy firewall policies to Layer 7 policies
Support and implement holistic security stacks, including IPS, IDS, and Layer 7 rules
Manage and implement firewall code updates
Troubleshoot and support a firewall fleet exceeding 100 nodes
Evaluate technical solutions in response to business challenges
Present technical solutions for knowledge sharing and acceptance
Provide project support and status reporting
Establish and maintain system documentation
Represent changes in CAB meetings
Collaborate with partnering teams to develop and deploy solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Advanced hands-on experience and knowledge of firewall technologies
Experience with BGP routing protocol
Advanced hands-on experience and knowledge with system design, administration, and security
Ability to communicate and show leadership among teams of specialists and engineers
Experience supporting technical teams in a lead role
Experience working with Incident, Problem, and Change Management
Familiarity and/or prior experience with cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or OCI (desired)
Active certification as a professional in Palo Alto and/or Check Point (desired)
Active certification as a network professional, such as CCNP or CISSP (desired)
No formal education requirement stated
