About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Guide and follow mortgage loans from initial application through closing
  • Determine applicants’ qualifications
  • Provide detailed information about Navy Federal mortgage and equity loan products
  • Clarify complexities of the mortgage/equity loan process
  • Evaluate, personalize, and recommend financing alternatives
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other centers of influence
  • Comply with Navy Federal policies, procedures, and Bank Secrecy Act regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with automated systems
  • Familiarity with accounting, credit, and/or lending principles and techniques
  • Experience in member/customer service, preferably in realty, insurance, retail banking, or a financial institution
  • Exposure to the lending application and approval process
  • Familiarity with mortgage lending concepts and principles
  • Familiarity with banking/financial industry standards and practices
  • Required to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry before assuming employment duties, including fingerprinting and background checks
  • Effective database and presentation software skills
  • Effective mathematical calculation and numerical accuracy skills
  • Ability to guide members through interactions to reduce member effort and enhance member loyalty
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, apply, and communicate complex written legal documents
  • Ability to speak and/or present professionally in front of groups
  • Effective word-processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal Mortgage Production and/or Servicing Systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing, closing, documentation requirements, and regulations preferred
  • Familiarity with VA and conventional loan program requirements, regulations, and procedures preferred
  • Monday–Friday availability, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
