About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform complex analytical and statistical modeling on large data sets
  • Provide Internal Audit leadership, risk partners, and business unit management with actionable intelligence and insights on key risks to business processes and controls
  • Define data requirements and perform data collection, processing, cleaning, analysis, modeling, and visualization across systems and lines of business
  • Lead complex data analysis projects with minimal supervision and independent judgment
  • Consult with audit teams and stakeholders on data analytics best practices for audit engagements
  • Manage projects from inception through deployment and maintenance
  • Work with technology organization and business end-users to define data requirements, business rules, data definitions, and data quality requirements
  • Conduct data user acceptance testing and data accuracy, validation, and integrity research
  • Perform quality data audits and analysis for reporting compliance
  • Identify and compile data sets to predict, improve, and measure business-to-business outcomes
  • Resolve complex data quality issues using data profiling, cleansing, and monitoring techniques
  • Develop data cleaning and validation processes, including outlier detection, imputation, and anomaly detection
  • Clean and organize raw data and generate descriptive statistics for business intelligence and data science projects
  • Partner with data science teams to maintain statistical models
  • Build relationships with team members and subject matter experts
  • Lead small projects and initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5-7 years of experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the business area/specialization
  • Skill in SQL, Python, or R
  • Advanced data cleaning and preprocessing techniques and tools
  • Experience with ETL tools and techniques
  • Advanced statistical analysis skills, including measures of central tendency, normal distribution, variance, standard deviation, basic tests, correlation, and regression
  • Advanced skill interpreting, extrapolating, and interpolating data for statistical research and modeling
  • Knowledge of data structures and extracting data sources, such as PySpark and Power BI
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar quantitative fields
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Desired: Master's degree in a related field
  • Desired: Experience in Compliance, Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, or similar
  • Desired: Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Desired: Experience with anomaly detection techniques such as unsupervised learning
  • Desired: Advanced knowledge and experience with MS SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
  • Desired: Working knowledge of Navy Federal Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs
  • Monday-Friday availability, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
