About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and direct operations to meet production goals, service level agreements, and corporate objectives
- Identify and drive change strategies to improve departmental efficiencies
- Collaborate with staff and processing/closing teams to close purchase and refinance loans expeditiously with appropriate documentation
- Review and evaluate mortgage loan applications for viability and compliance; perform file audits as needed
- Review loan files for closing costs and initial loan rate/point structure accuracy
- Audit SLA compliance, accuracy, and documentation completion for Green Light transfer to the PC team
- Provide direction on complex, unique, or unusual loans
- Resolve escalated member issues and problems
- Train team members and peers on functional processes and procedures
- Ensure compliance with documentation and disclosure requirements
- Resolve issues with closing attorneys/agents, realtors, and related parties
- Distribute updates on loan program, automated system, underwriting, and documentation changes
- Analyze policy, procedure, and product changes and determine section impact
- Monitor daily production reports and adjust assignments to workload
- Assist with marketing and promotional activities for members and real estate professionals
- Act as Manager during the incumbent's absence
- Supervise, coach, counsel, and document employee performance
- Prepare, conduct, and review performance appraisals
- Lead recruiting for new section team members
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
- Direct staff training, provide feedback, and evaluate training effectiveness
- Provide input on annual financial plan budget requirements
- Identify operational issues and recommend improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Working knowledge of Navy Federal mortgage products, services, programs, policies, and procedures
- Working knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA loans and RESPA guidelines
- Experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment
- Experience in compliance analysis
- Experience in leading, guiding, and mentoring others
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations, instructions, and procedures
- Required to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry prior to assuming employment duties; includes fingerprinting and background checks
- Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
- Effective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
- Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience (desired qualification)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
