About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance of loan documentation throughout the commercial loan closing process.
  • Pre-review attorney-prepared commercial loan documentation for accuracy, completeness, approved credit terms, Bank policy, system capabilities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage operational and legal risk throughout the documentation process.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external attorneys, internal general counsel, Commercial Administration, and Credit Administration teams.
  • Resolve documentation discrepancies, review corrected documents, and ensure all requirements are satisfied before loan closing.
  • Prepare and analyze reports and monitor compliance with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Support efficient loan closings, maintain quality standards, identify recurring issues, influence best practices, and maintain consistency.
  • Manage bank-approved attorneys and develop and maintain standardized legal language for approved external counsel.
  • Lead development and testing of enhancements and upgrades to documentation and origination systems, providing guidance to employees.
  • Conduct detailed pre-reviews and document discrepancies, omissions, inconsistencies, or exceptions.
  • Communicate document issues and required corrections to external attorneys, monitor outstanding items, and facilitate timely resolution.
  • Verify revised documentation incorporates requested changes and accurately reflects approved loan structure before execution.
  • Generate quality-control reporting and recommend process improvements with Legal Counsel, Relationship Managers, Commercial Loan Administrators, and Credit Administration.
  • Support training initiatives with team members and business partners.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and internal controls, with ongoing focus on risk and fraud mitigation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial Loan Documentation, Commercial Loan Administration, Loan Processing, Quality Control, or related commercial lending environment preferred.
  • Legal or Paralegal experience preferred.
  • Credit experience; Credit Policy knowledge desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to review and interpret complex commercial loan documentation accurately.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interaction with attorneys and internal business partners.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control focus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with LaserPro, nCino, Nautilus, FiServ, or similar commercial lending and documentation systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of UCC and mortgage filing and satisfaction requirements.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work in a friendly and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills.
  • May occasionally be required to work outside normal business hours, including evenings or weekends.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.
