About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the Personal Trust Group and direct activities of administrators and support staff
- Train, mentor, and develop staff
- Administer a significant group of complex accounts
- Provide guidance to administrators and private client advisors on administrative issues
- Oversee compliance for the assigned team
- Chair the regional Account Review Process/Committee
- Administer trusts, estates, and agency accounts for high-net-worth clients
- Consult with attorneys and financial planning professionals to achieve client and account objectives
- Analyze and interpret complex testamentary and inter vivos instruments for trust and estate administration
- Train, mentor, develop, and oversee a team of Trust Administration officers
- Review administrative documentation annually and participate in investment risk analysis to ensure compliance
- Analyze trust and estate accountings for accuracy and proper form
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with background in finance, business management, investments, or other relevant areas
- 7–10 years of relevant management experience in a Trust department, financial services organization, insurance company, or law firm
- Completion of career-specific training such as Cannon Trust or New York Bankers Trust Schools, including casework in estate and trust administration and taxation
- 5 years of previous experience supervising work activities of others
- Ability to direct work activities of staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to research independently and reduce findings to writing
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and other proprietary industry software
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to independently organize, coordinate, and outline agendas for client meetings involving other professionals
- Ability to understand and interpret complex legal documents
- Significant working knowledge of personal income, fiduciary income, and transfer taxation
- Strong mentoring and problem-resolution skills
- Knowledge of performance review policy
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
