About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design targeted campaigns educating portfolio startups about commercialization offerings
  • Drive startup enrollment and participation in customer mapping exercises, corporate adoption clinics, reverse pitches, and workshops
  • Develop messaging toolkits and guides translating technical milestones into customer-centric value propositions
  • Develop messaging campaigns for utilities, OEMs, developers, and procurement agencies
  • Market program events to secure decision-maker and off-taker participation
  • Frame value propositions around corporate risk reduction, pilot readiness, and access to pre-vetted technology solutions
  • Conduct outreach and interviews with corporates and customers to assess needs and interest
  • Craft the commercialization initiative's core narrative
  • Package market research, commercial matches, and joint development agreements into case studies, reports, and presentations
  • Author storytelling assets for funding partners and prospective sponsors
  • Initially report to the Head of Programs, with potential later reporting to the Director of Commercialization & Corporate Partnerships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in market engagement marketing, communications, or multi-stakeholder storytelling within climate tech, open innovation, venture capital, or tech accelerator
  • Track record of tailoring communications for entrepreneurs, corporates, and institutional funders/sponsors
  • Prior experience working within California clean energy or policy ecosystems
  • Strong dedication to New Energy Nexus's mission and alignment with organizational goals
  • Excellent copywriting, campaign architecture, and visual narrative skills
  • Ability to simplify complex narratives for broader accessibility and understanding
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans aligned with organizational objectives
  • Proficiency in digital platforms, social media, and email marketing tools
  • Proficiency in website content management systems (CMS) and website design principles
  • Knowledge of event planning and management, including logistics, promotion, and audience engagement strategies for virtual events
  • Strong project management skills, including setting scope and timelines, cross-background collaboration, and progress tracking
  • Strong understanding of communication analytics tools
  • Ability to adapt tone and voice for different audiences
  • Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area; relocation assistance is not available
