About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and helpfully
  • Handle patient check-in and checkout processes
  • Answer calls about appointment times, patient requests, and general inquiries
  • Review patient charts for accuracy before appointments and ensure required physician information is included
  • Scan and sort documents within the EMR system
  • Verify and update patient insurance information
  • Collect patient payments
  • Cross-train in all aspects of reception to provide coverage
  • Perform other assigned duties
  • Travel primarily locally during the business day
  • Work in a professional office environment using computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • One year of experience working in a medical practice or in a health insurance organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior use of EMR systems preferred
  • Ability to travel to other clinics as needed
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Thorough knowledge of computer information systems
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
