About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the Human Resources function, including employee relations, recruiting, talent management, benefits, compensation, compliance, performance management, employee development, and organizational culture
- Lead HR operations, policies, programs, and compliance requirements
- Manage the HR team and liaise with Finance on payroll
- Collaborate with Senior Staff to align HR strategies and practices with the organization’s mission, vision, core values, and business objectives
- Plan, organize, and control departmental activities, goals, and objectives
- Manage HR systems, software, expenses, projects, policies, procedures, communications, and employee handbook
- Monitor legislative and regulatory updates and ensure employment compliance
- Oversee workplace safety planning, HR metrics, records, audits, compliance reviews, and employment reporting
- Partner with Payroll on semi-monthly payroll processing
- Develop programs supporting employee engagement, culture, well-being, morale, productivity, and retention
- Provide performance management guidance, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary advice
- Develop management and employee training strategies
- Administer leave of absence programs and workers’ compensation
- Oversee recruiting operations, workforce planning, onboarding, compensation, benefits, surveys, renewals, claims resolution, and Form 5500 reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Hospitality background preferred but not required
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of applicable federal, New York State, New York City, and other state employment laws and regulations, including requirements applicable to employees working remotely in other jurisdictions
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build relationships, navigate cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with employees at all levels
- Strong judgment and discretion
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential employee and organizational matters
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience partnering with senior leadership on organizational strategy, workforce planning, and culture initiatives
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Must not require employment visa sponsorship
