About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a member of the first-year advising team
  • Help students articulate academic goals and develop meaningful educational plans
  • Advise approximately 150 undergraduate students on a wide range of academic issues
  • Facilitate individual and group advising sessions throughout the academic year
  • Work with departmental advisors and other university offices to increase student retention
  • Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of students

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel Development, Education or a related field
  • 2+ years related experience in an educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Student Development theories is a plus
  • Ability to work as an integral member of a team
  • Experience working with databases is preferred
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Psychology, Social Work or related area is preferred
  • 2+ years administrator experience in a higher education setting is preferred
  • Experience with academic support programs is preferred
