About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide excellent customer service and serve as primary source of information for veterans participating in the program
  • Coordinate patient care with clinical providers in the DDS program, Oral Health Center for People with Disabilities, and Brooklyn campus
  • Promote customer service efforts and assist with measuring and improving patient satisfaction
  • Recommend improvements to telephone communication standards and protocols
  • Utilize answering service software and NYU telecommunications options to monitor call volume, distribution, abandonment rates, recall program, and messages
  • Prepare, review, and distribute weekly reports
  • Prescreen veteran patients for appointments
  • Maintain and update various databases
  • Respond to inquiries with comprehensive knowledge of program activities
  • Interact with the general public as an NYU liaison and with University personnel, including senior-level staff, to resolve issues and problems
  • Perform clerical and general office duties, including confidential work
  • Perform word processing using intermediate to advanced-level functions
  • Modify or create databases and complex spreadsheets
  • Monitor complex department budgets and/or grants
  • Review expenses and invoices, investigate discrepancies, and report results to supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years office experience in a dental clinic or related healthcare facility
  • Experience providing a high level of customer service
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize own work and coordinate work of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree
