About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform clerical, secretarial, and general office duties, including confidential work
  • Prioritize office activities and delegate work to student and/or casual employees
  • Act as work leader to junior clerical support staff when needed
  • Respond to inquiries about department activities, policies, and programs
  • Liaise with the general public and University personnel, including senior-level staff, to resolve issues
  • Customize or compose letters independently or in response to information requests
  • Perform general word processing using intermediate to advanced functions
  • Modify or create databases and complex spreadsheets
  • Monitor complex department budgets and/or grants

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of office experience
  • Experience providing a high level of customer service
  • Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding
  • Good proofreading and writing skills
  • Preferred: 2 years of office experience with Associate's degree
  • Preferred: 1 year of office experience with Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: Proficiency with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office or Apple applications
  • Preferred: Knowledge of desktop publishing software
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Access
