About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, develop, and manage all aspects of department special events
- Manage NCAA post-season host events, programs, conferences, camps, and clinics
- Prepare event logistics, including security, facility selection and reservation, menu planning, catering orders, briefings, seating arrangements, RSVP lists, transportation, event materials, and audio/visual equipment
- Conceptualize themes, research requests, assess feasibility, make recommendations, and execute events
- Ensure events meet the department's strategic goals
- Evaluate event success and share findings with department senior staff
- Confer with event-site staff to manage event details
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years in intercollegiate and special event planning and implementing special events
- Experience with event budgeting and staff management
- Strong customer service skills and ability to solve problems in real time and juggle numerous demands
- Highly creative with ability to develop ideas reinforcing department strategic priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Detail oriented
- Experience with Google Suite
- Master's Degree preferred
- 7+ years of experience planning special events preferred
- Experience with Event Management Systems (EMS) and ARMS Software preferred
- Consultation with customers to determine event objectives and requirements preferred
- Experience managing event services, including accommodation, transportation, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs, printing, and event security preferred
