Chief Human Resources Officer, CHRO
New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Vice Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, Provost, and senior leadership team .
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Vice Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, Provost, and senior leadership team
- Act as NYU Abu Dhabi's primary liaison to NYU's global HR function
- Implement global HR policies, processes, and technology locally and contribute to their development
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing HR team
- Develop and manage the HR department's operating budget
- Oversee vendor relationships and HR technology investments
- Lead a globally competitive talent acquisition strategy
- Ensure fair and inclusive hiring practices
- Lead immigration and visa services for employees and students relocating to or within the UAE
- Develop and manage an immigration compliance program
- Design and steward compensation, benefits, allowances, housing, and recognition programs
- Lead compensation benchmarking and equity audits and address pay gaps
- Develop benefits supporting wellbeing, families, and mental health
- Ensure compliance with NYUAD policy, UAE labor law, and NYU global standards
- Oversee workforce analytics and convert HR data into actionable insights
- Guide HRIS optimization, workflow automation, and talent-management technology adoption
- Monitor HR service metrics, dashboards, and KPIs and present recommendations to leadership
- Manage workforce planning and position management processes for annual and multi-year budgeting
- Direct complex employee relations, disciplinary proceedings, and performance management
- Partner with legal counsel and compliance teams
- Monitor UAE governmental developments and update employment policies
- Lead and develop the HR Business Partner function
- Ensure HRBPs engage with operations and strengthen HR-leadership collaboration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years of progressive senior HR leadership experience
- At least 5 years at a CHRO, VP HR, or equivalent level in a complex, multi-stakeholder organization
- Experience leading HR in a multicultural, internationally diverse environment
- Proven track record of developing and executing enterprise-wide HR strategies
- Significant experience managing HR operations at scale, including talent acquisition, compensation, employee relations, HRIS, and L&D
- Demonstrated ability to translate emerging trends into actionable HR strategy
- Fluency across diverse national, professional, and academic cultures
- Experience leveraging data, workforce intelligence, and predictive modeling
- Ability to lead complex organizational change
- Outstanding professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, fairness, and ethical conduct
- Ability to champion talent development, succession planning, and employee career growth
- Ability to design scalable HR solutions across a complex institutional system
- Ability to drive HR digital transformation
- Demonstrated empathy, self-awareness, and sound judgment
- Chartered or certified HR credentials such as CIPD, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR highly desirable
- Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred
- Higher education, academic medical center, or similarly complex knowledge organization experience preferred
- GCC or broader MENA experience preferred
- Experience leading Emiratization or national talent development programs preferred
- Large-scale HRIS implementation or HR digital transformation exposure preferred
- Experience with dual/matrix reporting structures preferred
