About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support HR clients within NYU administrative units, academic centers, and institutes
  • Work with client leadership, HR Centers of Expertise, and business owners to develop solutions and lead organizational-effectiveness initiatives
  • Serve as client account manager for comprehensive HR service delivery
  • Advise senior clients on sensitive and critical people-related matters
  • Support organizational and workforce planning, job design, change management, performance and career planning, compensation strategies, coaching, development, and collective bargaining guidance
  • Assess root causes and develop solutions with internal and external partners
  • Support University leaders in building organizational climate, capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes
  • Deliver HR services using metrics, reports, dashboards, and continuous process improvement
  • Participate visibly and ethically on client and HR leadership teams
  • Leverage HR and organizational knowledge for action planning, issue prevention, and strategic initiative implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a human resources generalist in a professional or managerial capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of human resources areas
  • Experience managing staff, administrative process, and projects
  • Solid understanding of a client-facing HR business partner service model
  • Strong consultative, negotiation, analytical, influencing, relationship management, and communication skills
  • Very strong diagnostics, assessment, and action-planning capability
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and manage diverse resources
  • Extensive client support and strategic/tactical planning experience
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of HR and content expertise in at least 3 core HR areas
  • General business acumen, including strategic planning, marketing, finance, and operations management
  • Broad knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, legislation, and procedures
  • Knowledge of standard software
  • Eligible to work in New York City/United States by virtue of the posting's New York location
