About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide operational support to the Institute for Human Development and Social Change, focusing on contracts, purchasing, and procurement for sponsored research projects
- Manage contracts and lead finance administration
- Manage business procedures by liaising with Accounts Payable, Procurement, Risk Management, and other university offices on supplier requests
- Ensure spending on sponsored projects complies with university policies/procedures and applicable federal/private foundation guidelines
- Train faculty investigators and research staff on current policies and policy changes affecting research
- Oversee administrative and operational flow of research activities
- Support pre-award grants management, events, and special projects
- Serve as a bridge between pre-award and post-award teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years of business and financial accounting experience
- Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective problem-solving and workflow-management abilities
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to conduct compliance assessments and interpret and execute complex policies, procedures, and processes
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Google Docs/Sheets
- Highly self-motivated and directed
- Fixed-term position
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a university setting or nonprofit organization
- Preferred: Experience processing agreements in a university or nonprofit setting
- Preferred: Familiarity with interpreting insurance requirements for suppliers/vendors
- Preferred: Knowledge of federal, state, University, and School fiscal guidelines, requirements, and systems
