About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise prospective and admitted students, parents, and currently enrolled students on financial aid application processes, University financial aid policies and procedures, and problem resolution
  • Evaluate financial aid applications and create and update financial aid packages
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and institutional financial aid policies
  • Reassess aid packages based on student appeals, updated financial data, enrollment status, or other information
  • Determine changes to student eligibility or aid packages
  • Process financial aid application materials
  • Consult with Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, and external agencies to resolve issues and answer questions related to financial aid processing
  • Support the Assistant Directors and Associate Director of Financial Aid Counseling by providing guidance and day-to-day leadership to the Financial Aid Counseling team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of relevant professional level experience in a financial aid and student services environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and client service skills
  • Facility with figures and familiarity with automated student financial aid systems
  • Knowledge of needs' analysis and federal/state financial aid programs
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
  • Use of Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems
  • Familiarity with IA Plus Student Information System preferred
